VIDEO: Number of Injured at Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan Border Reaches 17, Evacuations Underway in Tajikistan

At the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, the number of injured from gunfire has reached 17, with 13 casualties on the Tajik side, reports Sputnik Tajikistan.

The total number of injured from both sides stands at 17. Among them, 13 Tajiks were injured, including 11 servicemen (one in serious condition) and two civilians. From the Kyrgyz side, there are four injured. This information comes from the hospital in Spara, according to Sputnik Tajikistan.

It is also noted that evacuations are being carried out for residents in border towns in Tajikistan.

On Thursday, the Kyrgyz Border Service reported a shootout between Kyrgyz and Tajik border guards. According to the agency's information, the Tajik side is using grenade launchers and mortars, with the conflict triggered by the closure of a highway by Tajik soldiers, which connects the cities of Isfana and Batken in Kyrgyzstan.

The Kyrgyz-Tajik border has frequently become a conflict zone between local residents and border guards from both countries. The reason for these conflicts are the undefined sections of the border, where it is impossible to determine how the border runs between the states.
