Medvedev Explains How to Avoid War
The only way to avoid war is to negotiate and reach agreements on security guarantees, but there are individuals who are working and exploiting the situation towards escalation—some without understanding the consequences, and others executing a clear political agenda, stated Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, in an interview with Russian media.
The North Atlantic Alliance has not kept its previous promises of not advancing eastward and is now moving directly towards Russia's borders.
According to him, the documents on security guarantees that Russia has submitted to the U.S. and NATO are not rigid but are very clear and specific.
As Medvedev noted, for example, if Ukraine enters NATO, new types of offensive weapons and a new military base will immediately appear near the Russian border, which the documents are concerned with.
