Marmarashen Village Not Completely Deprived of Route, Says Ministry
The village of Marmarashen in the Ararat region is not completely deprived of transportation routes, as the "Artashat-Yerevan" route has a high frequency and passes directly through the village. This information was provided to 24News by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures.
During the day, residents of Marmarashen blocked the road in protest, demanding a meeting with the Minister of Territorial Administration and the governor of Ararat region. Shamshyan.com had reported that the villagers are calling for a resolution to the transport issue in the village.
A ministry official indicated that the previous transport route number 44, which serviced the village, had outdated vehicles that did not comply with legislation, hence the operation of this route was not extended due to safety concerns.
The ministry announced that the route number 44 had previously reached the center of Yerevan. "Currently, the routes in Yerevan and the regions operate separately. Once a unified routing system is implemented, a single operator will serve the population of the region. The villagers used to travel to the center of Yerevan for 100 drams via route number 44, while they will now need to take regional transport to the bus station," the official added.
The ministry official struggled to specify when new vehicles for route number 44 would be ready and noted that this route operates under the jurisdiction of the Yerevan City Hall. Attempts to obtain clarification from the Yerevan City Hall on this matter were unsuccessful.
