Woman Who Attempted Suicide by Her Son's Grave Dies

Days ago, the 52-year-old principal of the school in Narek village, Ararat province, passed away in the hospital. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, she was diagnosed with "acute exogenous poisoning from acetic acid essence" and transferred to the "Artashat" medical center on January 13. She was moved from her village, near her son's grave, where she had attempted suicide.

It has been revealed that prior to this incident, a letter was sent from the Ararat regional prosecutor's office to the Artashat division of the police, which they received from the Ararat regional governor. The letter stated that during a study conducted by a working group, it was found that Anush D., the principal of the A. Stepanyan Secondary School in Narek village, had transferred about 13 million AMD to employee Gayane A. between 2020 and 2021. In her statement, Anush D. noted that she had transferred the stated amount to Gayane A. without the knowledge of any employee of the organization, including the accountant, and that she herself had managed those funds due to her financial problems. She had expressed her willingness to restore the damage caused.

According to G. Shamshyan's reports, on January 13, Anush D. visited her son's grave and then attempted suicide, dying in the hospital on January 15 without regaining consciousness.

As previously reported by SHAMSHYAN.com, an investigation was initiated in the Artashat division of the police regarding the suicide attempt made by a resident of one of the villages in Ararat province on January 13. On that day, around 11:40 a.m., the Artashat police received a report from the "Artashat" medical center stating that a citizen had been transferred with a diagnosis of "acute exogenous poisoning from acetic acid essence." An operational group was dispatched to the hospital, confirming that the individual was a 52-year-old woman from one of the villages in Ararat province. It was revealed that on the same day, around 11:00 a.m., she had consumed acetic acid essence at her son's grave with the intent to commit suicide. Doctors informed the police that she was unable to provide explanations.
