New Numbers of Casualties and Missing Persons Due to War: Investigative Committee Provides Data
The investigation into the aggressive war unleashed and conducted by the military-political leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh continues within the Main Department for Military Investigations of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. This includes the use of mercenaries recruited in advance during military operations, applying prohibited methods and means of warfare, failing to distinguish between civilian populations and military personnel, and systematically, deliberately targeting the civilian population of peaceful communities in Artsakh. Notably, this also includes targeting civilian objects and conducting indiscriminate attacks and bombardments, which are considered serious violations of international humanitarian law.
This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. As part of the criminal case, it has been established that the total number of military personnel and civilians who died as a result of the aggressive war unleashed by Azerbaijan amounts to 3,809 individuals. As of January 19, 2022, the whereabouts of 199 military personnel and 21 civilians remain unknown.
To date, a total of 141 servicemen and civilians have been handed over by the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Armenia.
