Car Goes Off Road and Falls into Canal: 1 Dead, 2 Injured
On January 16, a tragic car accident occurred in the Ararat region. Around 19:00, the Emergency Situations Ministry’s Rescue Service 911 Control Center received a call stating that a vehicle had fallen into the "Kakhanovi" canal in the administrative area of Yeghegnavan village, raising suspicions of possible casualties.
According to shamshyan.com, a firefighting unit from the Ararat regional rescue department arrived at the scene. Rescuers and police determined that near house number 1 on Freedom Street in Yeghegnavan, 68-year-old Garush S., driving an Opel Astra, had gone off the roadway and landed in the canal under yet-to-be-determined circumstances.
As a result of the accident, passengers, 66-year-old Samvel S. and 68-year-old Razmik M., were pulled from the vehicle with the help of bystanders and received first aid on-site from doctors who arrived promptly from the Vedi hospital; they were then transported to the Vedi medical center. Firefighters, together with road police and officers from the Ararat police department, retrieved the vehicle and driver Garush S. from the canal. Medical personnel documented his death.
