They Beat Them So Much That Both of Their Noses Were Broken: Rafik Andreasian on the Beating of His Son and His Friend
The former mayor of Vurcadzor, Rafik Andreasian, considers his son's arrest as a continuation of political persecution against him. In an interview with NEWS.am, he provided details about the incident that occurred yesterday, after which his son was arrested.
“I was in a police car, coming out. In front of my eyes, two young men, my son and his friend, were beaten severely. I have never seen anything like this in my life; even when our guys were taken captive by Azerbaijanis, they treated them better than our young people. It was an utterly heinous act, cursing at mothers, they beat them so much that both of their noses were broken, and there are numerous bruises on their bodies. There is an X-ray that proves all of this. My son didn't even resist,” he said.
Rafik Andreasian added that his son did not curse, and the villagers who witnessed the incident can confirm this. The former mayor recounted that he was taken into custody without notice, with his hands handcuffed, and brought to the police station, where he did not provide any explanation. He was released afterward.
It is noteworthy that yesterday the Investigative Committee issued a statement announcing that the son of the former mayor of Vurcadzor had been arrested on suspicion of using violence against police officers. A weapon and ammunition were found in his vehicle.
