New Wave of Unrest in Kazakhstan Unlikely, Says Zas

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Stanislav Zas, believes that a new wave of unrest in Kazakhstan is unlikely.

“I wouldn’t speak of any danger of revenge or a new outburst. I am almost certain that this is impossible, because, first of all, the situation is under control. Secondly, significant work is currently being done to clarify the entire picture and all the participants involved. Accordingly, measures will be taken within the framework of the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan. And of course, everyone has drawn their own conclusions from this situation—not just the Kazakh people, but also the country’s leadership,” he said in an interview with RT.

Zas also stated that there is no serious need for a restructuring of the CSTO’s activities. Commenting on the deployment of peacekeepers in Kazakhstan, he noted that these events have become a lesson.

“Soon, we will calmly analyze this entire process, draw certain conclusions for ourselves, and if necessary, make some adjustments. The other question is that I do not see a serious need to restructure our activities. Because the system and the mechanisms we have created in the CSTO have indeed worked, and they have worked well,” he emphasized.
