Macron: 'The US is doing today what I have been doing for several years'

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated, amid the Ukrainian crisis, that he welcomes the dialogue between the United States and Russia, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“The US is doing today what I have been doing for several years. The US is talking to the Russians. This is good news. Is it easy? No. I have never stated such a thing, nor has US President Joe Biden. Is it necessary? As never before, if we do not want to maintain the status quo, which disturbs everyone and our collective security,” Macron said in an interview with the French weekly Journal du Dimanche.

He noted that France and Germany have always conducted negotiations in the spirit of dialogue regarding the Minsk agreements between Russia and Ukraine.
