Azerbaijanis Refuse to Return 350 Sheep
Surik Matevosyan, a shepherd from Tegh village, has not yet had his 350 sheep returned, which were taken by Azerbaijanis. David Ghulunts, the head of Tegh community, spoke with Tert.am, stating, “Negotiations have been ongoing for several days now. We are waiting to see what response we will get. The Azerbaijanis deny it, saying nothing of the sort happened; they ask for evidence. We have presented evidence, including photos taken when the sheep were taken away, which we provided to the Russian peacekeepers. They have conveyed this information to the Azerbaijanis, and now we are in a state of suspense. Those sheep are all that person has; they are his property. I don’t know what will happen next,” said Ghulunts.
Recall that on January 13, Azerbaijanis abducted Surik Matevosyan, a 53-year-old shepherd from Tegh community, along with his 350 sheep. One day later, as a result of negotiations, he was handed over to peacekeepers, but the abducted sheep have remained with the Azerbaijanis until today.
