Dispute Among Spitak Men Ends in Stabbing, Investigation Committee Reports

The Spitak Division of the Lori Regional Investigation Department has initiated necessary measures to uncover the incident of intentionally causing serious harm to a resident of Spitak.

This information was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, detailing the circumstances and background of the incident:

According to preliminary information, on January 5, 2022, at 18:35, a report was received from the Spitak Medical Center regarding a resident born in 1989 who sought medical assistance with a diagnosis of "penetrating abdominal wall injury, anterior and posterior chest wall injury, injury to the posterior surface of the left thigh."

During the pre-investigation, various investigative and procedural actions were undertaken, as well as urgent measures carried out in cooperation with the police, which revealed several circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motives and the identity of the individual who allegedly committed the crime, a 31-year-old city resident.

Preliminary data indicates that due to previously established hostile relations, a 32-year-old resident of Spitak argued with his 31-year-old counterpart on January 3, and in a retaliatory act, that same evening, he broke the windows of the latter's home by striking them with a stone.

Days later, on January 5, another argument erupted between the two citizens on the street, during which the 31-year-old man inflicted multiple stab wounds on the body of the 32-year-old individual with a sharp cutting object, resulting in the aforementioned injuries.

During the pre-investigation, examinations of the incident locations were conducted, searches were carried out, several individuals were interrogated, and the victim's clothing at the time of the incident was seized. A forensic examination was ordered to clarify the essential aspects of the case, including the nature of the victim's injuries, the degree of severity, mechanisms of occurrence, and several other factors.

The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and thorough examination of the circumstances of the incident and to locate the alleged perpetrator, the 31-year-old man. An assignment has been given to the investigating body.
