Ready to Pay 100 Dollars for Bread: Almaty
Residents of some neighborhoods in Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, are prepared to pay 100 dollars for bread due to food shortages. This was reported in an interview with a resident of an upscale neighborhood by Sputnik Kazakhstan, as conveyed by RIA Novosti.
“It feels like we are cut off from civilization; there is no internet, gasoline, or food in the area. My family and neighbors are already ready to pay 100 dollars for bread, but there is none to be found,” the resident reported.
It should be noted that mass protests in Kazakhstan began in early 2022. Residents of the western cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau opposed the doubling of liquefied gas prices.
