Driver Hits Pedestrian; Victim Dies

On January 8, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the Ararat region. Around 8:00 PM, 22-year-old Andranik Grigoryan, driving his Volkswagen Golf, struck 40-year-old Karine Gasparyan on Griboedov Street in the village of Ararat.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the pedestrian died at the scene, and the driver did not flee. Officers from the second battalion's first company of the Road Police swiftly responded, led by battalion commander Arsen Mardoyan, deputy battalion commander Aram Adibekyan, company commander Grigor Poghosyan, and platoon commander Karapet Harutyunyan.

The head of the Ararat regional police department, Saribek Rustamyan, and the head of the Ararat division, Arthur Hakobyan, also arrived at the scene. A criminal case has been initiated in the investigation department under Article 242, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code regarding the incident.

By the investigator's order, the vehicle was transferred to the designated special area of the Ararat division of the police.
