13-Year-Old Driver Dies at Scene of Accident in Aragatsotn Province

Today, January 8, a tragic car accident occurred in Aragatsotn Province. Around 12:30 PM, a 13-year-old resident of the province, Aramais T., lost control of his VAZ 2121 vehicle on the 3rd kilometer of the Artashavan-Ohanavan intercommunity highway. The car veered into the oncoming lane, crashed into a wooden electric pole, and flipped several times before landing upside down in a field.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, the driver died at the scene of the accident. Officers from the 1st platoon of the 2nd division of the road police, under the command of Arsen Mardoyan, the division commander, and his deputy Aram Adibekyan, as well as platoon commander Vache Malakyan and squad leader Hrant Galstyan, arrived at the site. Also present were Tigran Karapetyan, head of the Aragatsotn regional police department, and Sergey Martirosyan, head of the Ashtarak police station.

Following the order of investigator H. Hovhannisyan, a criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 242 of the Armenian Criminal Code, and the vehicle will be transferred to the special parking lot of the Ashtarak police department as part of the ongoing investigation.
