Attack on Patrol Officers: Extraordinary Incident in Yerevan

On January 6, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Patrol officers Suren Pashayan and Arkadi Ghazaryan of the RA Police noticed a BMW vehicle passing by around 5:00 AM on Isakov Avenue.

The officers determined that the color of the vehicle did not match the color listed in the registration documents and signaled the vehicle to stop. When they attempted to draw up an administrative report, several individuals exited the vehicle, pulled the officers, and did not comply with their legal demands. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the officers, along with their colleagues, detained the individuals and brought them to the Malatia Police Department. It was revealed that the driver was Edgar Hovhannisyan, a 29-year-old resident of Yerevan, while the passengers were 27-year-old Vahe Hovhannisyan and 29-year-old Andranik Karapetyan, also residents of Yerevan. The latter two were released.

Investigative materials are being prepared at the Malatia Police Department regarding the incident.
