A Volcano Awakens in Kamchatka
The Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka has erupted today, throwing a column of ash up to 5.5 kilometers high. According to the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's regional press service, there are no populated areas in the path of the ash cloud, as reported by TASS.
The ash has spread over a distance of 20 kilometers, with no populated areas along its course. There are also no tourist groups in the vicinity.
