Will Armenian Soldiers Head to Kazakhstan? Details
“The Collective Security Council of the CSTO has made a decision to send CSTO collective peacekeeping forces to the Republic of Kazakhstan for a limited period to stabilize and regulate the situation in that country,” announced Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as the chair of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
It is no secret that the peacekeeping forces of the CSTO include soldiers from all member states. Since yesterday, there has been active discussion on the internet about whether Armenian soldiers will also head to Kazakhstan.
Auroranews attempted to clarify with the press service of the Armenian government, through Secretary Armen Khachatryan, whether Armenian soldiers will travel to that country, how many soldiers will be dispatched, for how long, and if the Prime Minister has made a definitive decision.
Mr. Khachatryan indicated that at this moment, he cannot add anything beyond the Prime Minister's statement. He also confirmed that there are Armenian soldiers among the CSTO collective peacekeeping forces, which include soldiers from all member countries.
Details could not be clarified at this moment by the Ministry of Defense as well. Auroranews is following the developments closely.
