There Are Casualties Among Law Enforcement Forces: Tokayev

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, amidst widespread protests, stated in his second address to the country's citizens that he is assuming the position of Chairman of the Security Council of Kazakhstan starting today. This position was previously held by the former President Nursultan Nazarbayev for life.

Tokayev also expressed his intention not to leave the country amid the unrest, saying, “I will be in the capital, I will be with the people.”

Additionally, the Kazakhstani president promised to soon present a new package of proposals.

At the same time, Tokayev revealed that there have been casualties among law enforcement personnel during the unrest. He warned that the authorities would begin the harshest actions against violators.
