Man Found with Assault Rifle in Gyumri
Police officers from the Mush Division, during a night patrol on December 27 at 3:40 AM, noticed a citizen in Gyumri's Ozanyan Street carrying an object resembling an assault rifle wrapped in a blanket. They immediately apprehended him for questioning.
From the blanket, a factory-numbered Kalashnikov assault rifle, a magazine, and 16 bullets for the rifle were discovered. The detained individual stated that he had brought the assault rifle back in October 2020 after returning from the 44-day war in Artsakh.
During the course of preparing the materials, a search of the suspect's house and vehicle on the same day revealed a loaded magazine containing five 7.62 mm caliber bullets.
According to the source, a forensic examination has been appointed, and the circumstances of the incident are being clarified. The person suspected or accused of the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, with a legally effective court verdict.
