Details of the Brutal Murder in Gyumri
On December 28, at 13:50, the emergency dispatch center reported to the Kumayri police department that there was a deceased person near a store located in the Bagratuniats ring of Gyumri. This information was provided by the Armenian Police.
The dispatched operational-investigative groups discovered the body of 63-year-old Anahit Iskandaryan in a clothing store, with stab wounds to her neck.
Thanks to various operational and investigative measures undertaken by the Criminal Police Department, the Shirak regional department, and the Kumayri and Mush police divisions, it was determined that the 63-year-old woman was murdered by a 50-year-old resident of Yerevan. The suspect was located in his apartment on the same day and was taken to the Kumayri police department. He was presented to the Shirak regional investigative department, where he provided a confession and was arrested.
According to preliminary data, the 50-year-old man had visited the clothing store owned by the 63-year-old woman to clarify financial issues, during which he stabbed her twice in the neck with a knife he had with him. After the murder, he took the victim's bag and mobile phone and fled the scene. He burned the items he had stolen and discarded the knife on the Gyumri-Yerevan road.
Measures are being taken to locate the knife, which is considered the instrument of the crime. The preliminary investigation into the murder case is ongoing.
