What Agreements Does the Kapan Mayor Have with Nikol Pashinyan?

The newspaper "Pasts" reports: "Kapan Mayor Gevorg Parsyan, who called for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation after the war, initially spoke about a definite cooperation with the government following the elections on November 14, and again after a meeting with Pashinyan on November 24, emphasizing that 'the parliamentary elections were held on June 20, and the people made their decision.' This statement did not attract much attention, as many simply considered the cooperation between local government and the highest executive body to be natural.

However, according to the information obtained by "Pasts," this cooperation has actually taken on different shades and content and is based on certain agreements. According to our sources, as one of the conditions for 'reconciliation' with the authorities, Parsyan demanded the dismissal of Syunik Province deputy governor Narek Babayan. Regarding this issue, Parsyan met with the former deputy prime minister and current defense minister Suren Papikyan.

Our sources indicate that the authorities have agreed to this demand, but have decided to replace Babayan with a candidate with whom Parsyan also has certain disagreements, so that they do not completely lose control over the Kapan mayor.

According to reliable information from the newspaper, Gevorg Parsyan is not the only mayor in Syunik Province who has established a relatively comfortable cooperation with the ruling party. But, as they say, more about that in the next class..."
