VIDEO: Prime Minister Receives CSTO Secretary General

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received Stanislav Zas, the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The Prime Minister welcomed the CSTO Secretary General to Yerevan and noted that his visit is a good opportunity to discuss the current situation in the CSTO region, as well as to summarize the activities of the CSTO in 2021.

“We will also talk about what programs and challenges we have in 2022, and we will address the mechanisms for the further development of the organization in terms of what shortcomings have emerged. Of course, we will touch upon the current situation in the region and more broadly within the CSTO responsibility zone. This is also very important, and I would be interested to hear your assessments on this matter as well,” Pashinyan emphasized.

Stanislav Zas thanked the Prime Minister for the meeting and added that the main planned document for the CSTO's activities in the coming year has already been developed. “This is the implementation of decisions from the September sessions and the priorities put forward by Armenia during its presidency. We have already developed and coordinated this document with all our states. I would like to point out that in this regard, our main document, which the Secretariat, the General Staff, and other bodies will work with, reflects all the initiatives and proposals that were expressed during the autumn session in Dushanbe by both the foreign ministers and defense ministers, as well as the heads of state. It also reflects all the priorities that were voiced by you during the autumn session in Dushanbe. This means that our states have confirmed their readiness to work next year exactly on the priorities that were proposed, including those put forward by the presiding country, Armenia,” noted the CSTO Secretary General.

The meeting discussed the current situation in the CSTO responsibility zone, the problems, and the steps directed toward overcoming challenges, as well as the programs and activities planned by the organization for 2022.
