VIDEO: Zakharova Responds to Alen Simonyan's Statement
Moscow considers the statement by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, and the response from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be a closed topic. This was stated today during a press briefing by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
In November, during a meeting with representatives of Russian media, Simonyan spoke about the 'Lavrov Plan' and associated the 'handover of Nagorno-Karabakh' with Russia in response to a question from a Kommersant journalist.
On December 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to Simonyan’s remarks, emphasizing that the 'Lavrov Plan' exists not in reality, but in the realm of imagination. The ministry also provided details of the negotiation process that preceded the 44-day war.
During today’s press briefing, Zakharova stressed that this is not considered an incident. According to her, it was important for the Russian side to provide clarity on the matter.
She also informed that the issue was touched upon during the phone conversation between the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Armenia on December 8.
