Video: Major Fire at Tomsk Hypermarket, Explosion Sounds Heard
On December 21, a major fire broke out at the Lenta hypermarket located in Tomsk. According to preliminary data, over 110 people have been evacuated from the building, reports vtomske.ru.
The Regional Emergency Situations Ministry reported that the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ firefighting and rescue service received a notification about the fire at 15:06 at the address Elizarovikh 13. At the time of the first crew's arrival, smoke was billowing from the roof of the building, and sounds of explosions were heard. Preliminary indications suggest that the fire originated in the area storing flammable materials and goods.
The Emergency Situations Ministry stated that 24 units of equipment and 76 personnel are actively working at the scene. Search and rescue as well as emergency medical services are also operating on-site.
The company's press service also provided comments regarding the fire. “The fire occurred in the non-food section of the hypermarket, where pallets caught fire. Staff and visitors have been evacuated from the store, and there are no injuries,” Lenta reported.
