Tragic Car Accident: Husband Dies on Scene, Doctors Fight for Pregnant Wife's Life

On December 19, a tragic car accident occurred in the Syunik province. Around 10:10 AM, a Mercedes vehicle collided with an Iranian-registered Iveco at the 196.5 km mark of the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Meghri highway, in the administrative area of the village of Angehakot, near the Angehakot market.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver died on the spot, while the passenger, diagnosed with severe injuries, was rescued from the vehicle by citizens and the emergency services from the Sisian Fire and Rescue Unit No. 57, and was taken to the hospital in Aghitu, Sisian.

The firefighters disconnected the vehicles and secured the area. The driver was Garni Harutyunyan, a resident of one of the villages in the Kotayk province, while the injured passenger was Susanna Zakyan, also from Kotayk. According to Shamshyan's reports, the deceased and the injured are husband and wife, with the woman being pregnant.
