There Are Secret and Verbal Agreements, Says Sagatelyan
This childish approach is unacceptable. They could have come, expressed their views, and explained why they did not participate in this important topic discussion, rather than simply boycotting and undermining the session,” said the Vice President of the National Assembly and MP from the 'Armenia' faction, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, referring to the refusal of the ruling 'Civil Contract' faction to attend the extraordinary session of the National Assembly convened on the topic of "Border Demarcation and Delimitation Issues."
Speaking about the meetings held in Brussels, Sagatelyan noted that there are no positive expectations. “Aliyev’s statements are fraught with new dangers; he is talking about establishing a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor,” he emphasized.
When considering the prospects for launching the railway, according to Sagatelyan, it is necessary to understand what concessions have been made in exchange. “That’s why I say that there are secret and verbal agreements. Whenever we continue to say this, they deny it, and then it turns out that it is a reality. One of the most vivid manifestations of this is this Armenian-Turkish love affair. How many times have they denied the existence of a process, but every time we learn of secret agreements from the Turkish side,” said the parliamentarian.
In the context of Armenian-Turkish secret agreements, Sagatelyan considered it not coincidental and very symbolic that the day before, the ruling faction met with Jirair Liparitaryan, a former advisor on foreign policy and security issues to the first president of Armenia. “In these days, in this atmosphere, immediately after the statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the most unsuccessful, pro-Turkish diplomat in the history of independent Armenia comes and meets with the political majority. It is interesting to know what Liparitaryan, who stated just a day earlier that discussing the status of Artsakh is fraught with great dangers, was explaining or teaching them. Is that what the most unsuccessful diplomat, known throughout his life for his pro-Turkish stance, was discussing?” emphasized the MP from the 'Armenia' faction.
