Parents Protest in Bardarashen: School Lacks Heating, Says MP

Taguhi Tovmasyan, an MP from the "I Have Honor" faction, made a post on Facebook regarding the lack of heating at the school in Bardarashen community of Ararat region.

“I learned yesterday that parents are protesting at the school in the Bardarashen community of Ararat region. They are complaining that the school has no heating, and the children are attending classes in their coats. This is not all; the school building is in a state of emergency. Parents are worried, saying the building will collapse on the children’s heads. They have been reporting this issue for two years, and they mention that if the issue is not resolved this year, they simply will not bring their children to school.”

“Alongside safety concerns, people were raising the issue of the lack of basic living conditions at the school. Following my urgent instruction right after the alert, an expert from the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly contacted the head of the education department of the Ararat regional administration. The latter noted that the school received the 4th degree of emergency status, and after numerous requests and complaints, the Government has included the renovation of the school in the appropriate program for 2022. Currently, some electrical wiring has been renovated to allow for electric heaters to warm up the classrooms.”

“I will continue to follow up on the resolution of this issue. The rights of children in our country must be protected,” she wrote.
