Hayk Marutyan Expected to Be Dismissed Soon

The Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, is likely to be dismissed in the coming 10 days. This information comes from sources at 24News, indicating that approximately 48 out of the 60 council members have gathered the necessary signatures, including members not only from the ruling faction.

According to our informants, several reasons are cited within the council for Marutyan's expected dismissal. The first reason is his departure from the 'Civil Contract' party immediately after the war, after which he has acted from a politically neutral stance for almost a year, not supporting the authorities in the parliamentary elections, and showing signs of being part of an anti-government coalition.

Our sources have also mentioned that 'the council members attribute certain corrupt practices within various departments of the municipality to the city's leadership.' Additionally, they noted that 'the information regarding the Marutyan-Kocharian connection has become the last straw in this situation.'

In any case, it appears that the question of Marutyan's dismissal has matured, and unless there is an unlikely opposite political decision, or Marutyan chooses to leave on his own accord, he will likely be dismissed through a vote in the near future.

Auroranews reached out to the spokesperson for the Mayor of Yerevan, Hakob Karapetyan, who stated that he is not aware of such information. When we followed up on whether he is aware of whether council members have initiated the collection of signatures, the spokesperson replied, 'I am not aware.'
