Direct Communication Established Between Defense Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has issued a statement following a significant meeting that took place on December 14 in Brussels with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, lasting several hours. According to Armenpress, Michel praised the efforts made by both leaders to reduce tensions following recent armed clashes along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
“The parties have acknowledged that a successful direct line of communication has been established between the defense ministers of the two countries, with the support of President Michel. This mechanism can serve to prevent future incidents and positively influence the de-escalation of tensions,” Michel's statement noted.
