Azerbaijani Side Shows No Understanding: Statement from Artsakh Ombudsman
Residents of the Taghavard community have repeatedly raised concerns over the accessibility of the community's cemetery, which has been under Azerbaijani control since the 2020 war. This was reported by Artsakh's Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan.
“The cemetery is located in the occupied section of the community, just a few kilometers away from the part where the residents of Taghavard currently live. People have the right to honor the memory of their loved ones, including the opportunity to visit their graves. However, the Azerbaijani side shows no understanding and does not allow community residents the chance,” he stated.
“I would like to draw the attention of state bodies, the Russian peacekeeping forces, as well as international human rights and humanitarian organizations to this humanitarian issue. Furthermore, this critical matter concerns and worries not only the residents of Taghavard but also all residents of the occupied territories of Artsakh,” he added.
