Armen Sarkissian Meets with Arman Tatoyan

The President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian, met with Armenia's Human Rights Defender, Arman Tatoyan. The President and the Human Rights Defender addressed the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the related issues affecting the border communities.

Arman Tatoyan presented to the President the results of the fact-finding work carried out by the Office of the Human Rights Defender in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions, the problems faced by residents of border settlements, and cases of rights violations due to Azerbaijani actions, emphasizing the importance of establishing a demilitarized security zone.

The Human Rights Defender also informed that instances of rights violations of border residents are regularly reported to international organizations operating in Armenia and accredited diplomatic missions. The President and the Human Rights Defender exchanged views on the current situation and several other issues within the domain of human rights protection.
