Why Has the Armenian Government Concealed This Information? Arman Abovyan
The current Armenian authorities, promoting a fabricated narrative that a new era of peace is opening, are prepared to compromise on the state’s interests and vision in exchange for allegedly fostering friendly relations. This was stated by Arman Abovyan, a member of the 8th Convocation of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia faction, in an interview with 'Factinfo'.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish Foreign Minister has announced that soon, Turkey and Armenia will appoint special representatives to take steps toward the normalization of bilateral relations. The Armenian Foreign Ministry has also positively assessed this statement.
Abovyan points out the absurdity that the authorities had previously sworn there were no ties or negotiations with the Turks, yet Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has practically revealed that there have indeed been some arrangements based on which Armenia and Turkey are starting some kind of process.
“Why has the Armenian government concealed this information? I must remind that Turkey will promote its preconditions and will not retreat from them. The first precondition is the unconditional acceptance of the results of the Second Artsakh War, which states that the territory of Artsakh is occupied and belongs to Armenian territories. In other words, Armenia must reconcile with this,” Abovyan stated.
One of Turkey’s preconditions will also be that Armenia provides a road or corridor, which would effectively connect the Turkish states within the scope of the Great Turan project. Abovyan believes that this will lead to the fragmentation of Armenia in a historically short period, if not politically, then logistically.
“It’s absurd; we are becoming a link for those states that do not hide their primary goal of removing or destroying Armenia and the Armenian factor from the region,” Abovyan stressed.
Additionally, Turkey has not rejected its precondition to shift the issue of the Armenian Genocide from a political and claims-based arena to a historical one, and the politician predicts that Armenia might resort to the most destructive step and permanently close the issue of the Armenian Genocide.
“There are many preconditions. For instance, Turkey is pushing for the removal of Mount Ararat from the Armenian state emblem and the elimination of the concept of Eastern Armenia from the Constitution. We are faced with a situation where Turkey is protecting its interests, but do these actions align with Armenian interests? At a minimum, they do not align in terms of security. The Turks and Azerbaijanis do not hide what they want, while the Armenian side says it does not matter, at the national or state level, as long as we are all fat and happy,” Abovyan noted.
He emphasized that destructive processes continue, and what we see today is the beginning of our heavy and decisive days.
