Today, Pashinyan and Aliyev Will Once Again Speak Tet-a-Tet: What to Expect According to Naira Zohrabyan

What to expect or not expect from Brussels. Today in Brussels, another round of talks between Pashinyan and Aliyev is taking place. The meeting was initiated by the President of the European Council Charles Michel. Former MP Naira Zohrabyan wrote about this on her Facebook page.

She specifically noted: “The Eastern Partnership” is the platform where both Armenia and Azerbaijan participate fully, and this platform's agenda allows for a wide range of issues and challenges to be discussed—from security to human rights.

Democrat Joe Biden's “team” saw Nikol Pashinyan not utter a word about the aggressor Azerbaijan, the prisoners of war, or Azerbaijan's attacks against Armenia's sovereignty, despite having promised to do so. Considering the format of Biden's initiative, it would have been quite logical to address these issues.

The only “goal” of Biden's gathering appeared to be affecting Russia's nerves once again, unless the real message of this “team's” participation was precisely that.

Today, Pashinyan and Aliyev will again speak tet-a-tet. And today, one year after the capitulatory statement of the war, one of the most crucial points of that statement remains unfulfilled—the return of prisoners of war.

Despite months ago, the prisoners of war who were “almost” claiming the title of national heroes, welcomed by the Deputy Prime Minister with bouquets, smoothly transformed into deserters, which certainly needs to be examined; nonetheless, today there is another opportunity to discuss Azerbaijan's aggression, the constant presence of Azerbaijani forces in Armenia's sovereign territory since May 12, the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the continuation of negotiations around the status of Artsakh, and the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan during the 44-day war.

By the way, I am almost certain that after this meeting, a certain number of prisoners of war will return home, and I believe this will be a consequence of the dialogue between Putin and Charles Michel in order to maintain a certain parity in the meetings in Sochi and Brussels.
