Spokesperson Denies Incident of Brawl Between Officials at Commission Meeting

The spokesperson for the Competition Protection Commission, Ani Smbatyan, addressed an article published by the newspaper 'Hraparak'.

“We would not have commented on the article titled 'Extraordinary Incident at the Competition Protection Commission' if it did not directly relate to and aim to damage the activities of the Commission. I want to emphasize that the media has published information that has no relation to reality. As I have already informed the media, there has been no recorded incident of a dispute between employees during any meeting of the Commission. Therefore, the story presented in the article, particularly the account of operators 'shockingly leaving the building' and the dialogue that occurred with them, is fabricated and solely the product of the writer's imagination,” she stated.

Earlier, 'Hraparak' had reported that an extraordinary incident occurred at the Commission in August. During a meeting, a dispute arose between David Eloyan, the head of the Methodology and Market Control Department, and Arsen Petrosyan, an employee of the Competition Department, escalating into a brawl. “Eloyan was not restrained by the presence of the Commission's president; he 'ran to his office, brought a knife to attack Arsen,' then called Petrosyan to the corridor for 'an explanation.' Terrified employees fled to their rooms,” the article claimed.
