Establishing Diplomatic Relations with Turkey is in Armenia's National Interests, Says Aghajanyan
We are ready to begin relations with Turkey without any preconditions, said Edward Aghajanyan, chairman of the Armenian National Assembly's Permanent Commission on Foreign Relations, in a conversation with reporters, as reported by aysor.am.
“We are talking about starting diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey. This in no way means that Armenia is abandoning its core and national interests. On the contrary, we are convinced that establishing diplomatic relations with Turkey is in Armenia's national interests,” Aghajanyan said.
It is noted that Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu announced that Turkey and Armenia will appoint special representatives to normalize relations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has also reported that Armenia will appoint a special representative for dialogue aimed at normalizing relations with Turkey without preconditions. Edward Aghajanyan stated that it is still undecided who will be the representative of Armenia.
