Aliyev in Brussels Announces Readiness to "Turn the Page on Hostility"

“Azerbaijan is committed to peace and is making efforts to minimize the risk of any new war in the South Caucasus,” said President Ilham Aliyev at a press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“We are ready, and we have already made several public statements that we are prepared to turn the page on hostility and work on a peace agreement,” Aliyev stated on Tuesday in Brussels.

He emphasized that the meeting today with Nikol Pashinyan and Charles Michel would “clarify a lot of things.” According to him, Azerbaijan is “dedicated to peace, stability, and their efforts are aimed at minimizing the risks of any new war in the region.”

“The best way to achieve this is through the opening of communications, establishing active dialogue, and learning to be neighbors again. Our policy is very open and direct, and I hope that if there is a show of goodwill from the Armenian side, we can start working on a peace treaty between the two countries and put an end to hostility,” Aliyev said.

However, the Azerbaijani president did not hesitate to issue another threat towards Armenia.
