A Criminal Case Has Been Initiated Against Narek Samsonyan for Serious Defamation

The president of the NGO 'Civil Awareness', Narek Samsonyan, has had a criminal case initiated against him under Article 137.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, which pertains to serious defamation. In connection with this, Samsonyan was taken into custody today.

The Public Relations and Media Department of the RA Police confirmed in a conversation with 'Fact-info' that Narek Samsonyan was taken to the Nor Nork division as part of the initiated criminal case and was then presented to the investigative body.

As previously reported, he was taken into custody this morning from the yard of his home. Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan stated that Samsonyan was arrested in a demonstrative manner, with several dozen police officers involved.
