QP Deputy on Publication of 'Haykakan Zhamanak'
The members of the QP parliamentary group are unclear whether Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan has abandoned revolutionary values. They are also not informed about the accuracy of the publication by 'Haykakan Zhamanak' regarding the meeting between Marutyan and Robert Kocharyan. They urge inquiries to be directed to the addressees.
“Both regarding that and the meeting with Robert Kocharyan, the best answers will come from Hayk Marutyan and Robert Kocharyan. We do not have the answer to that question,” QP Deputy Vahagn Aleksanyan said during a press briefing.
Eduard Aghajanyan reiterated the same. “We do not have such information, therefore we cannot answer that question. I second my colleague. Perhaps the best option would be to ask Mr. Marutyan himself,” he stated.
Aleksanyan and Aghajanyan also mentioned that their political team has not held practical discussions regarding the issue of changing the mayor. “The mayor of Yerevan is elected with the logic of serving specific terms. That term has not yet expired, and there are no practical discussions at this moment regarding the end of the term before that time. It will be possible only through several procedures stipulated by law: a) when the mayor resigns himself, b) if I’m not mistaken, when the council expresses distrust. Excuse me, this is the National Assembly,” Aghajanyan clarified.
He promised that discussions regarding expressing distrust for Marutyan by the councilors would take place and that if those discussions move to the political team, journalists would be informed.
“At this moment, there are no such discussions,” added the QP parliamentary group deputy.
