Yerevan City Council member Izabella Abgaryan made a post stating: “Many of us envied the 260,000 drams salary for 15 days. As an independent member of the Yerevan City Council, I fully support the civilized form of payment and the new scheme of fixed wages for drivers, and I believe that there should be no steps backward to old ways.

As a lecturer, I want to ask the drivers: if we, the educators, who earn less than you, demand a salary increase and an increase in tuition fees for your children, how would you view such a step? And what if we go on strike, leaving your children without education? God forbid, the community gets so rich and has no worries that your salary becomes even more enviable. But in this situation, sabotage is unacceptable and incomprehensible.”
