Putin Claims CIA Agents Worked in Russia During the 1990s

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that in the mid-1990s, agents from the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) were working in the Russian government. He shared this information during a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society. According to Putin, they were unaware of this at the time, as reported by iz.ru.

“By the early 2000s, I had already figured everything out, but in the mid-1990s, as it turned out later, CIA agents were serving as advisors and official staff in the Russian government,” the Russian leader said.

At the same time, he elaborated that American intelligence officials provided various advice and participated in the management of the state.
