Truck Carrying Migrants Crashes on Mexican Highway, Over 53 Dead

A truck carrying over 100 migrants has crashed on a highway in southern Mexico, overturning and colliding with a pedestrian bridge. Authorities report that at least 53 people have died as a result of this major accident, with dozens more injured.

The Federal Attorney General's office indicated that preliminary estimates suggest 53 fatalities, with three of the injured in extremely critical condition. Around 21 of the injured have sustained serious wounds and have been transported to local hospitals.

The crash occurred on a highway headed from Chiapas state towards the capital. Photographs from the scene show victims scattered on the sidewalk and inside the cargo area of the truck.
