Biden and Zelensky's Negotiations Lasted About 1.5 Hours: Details

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the President of the United States, Joe Biden, have coordinated their positions regarding the resolution of the situation in Donbas.

“Zelensky expressed gratitude to Joe Biden for his consistent and strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and affirmed his unwavering commitment to seeking pathways to peace in Donbas,” stated the website of the Ukrainian president.

Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian side has clear proposals aimed at unblocking the peace process.

The negotiations between Biden and Zelensky lasted about 1.5 hours. The White House leader particularly informed his Ukrainian counterpart about his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 7.

The leaders also discussed possible formats for resolving the Donbas conflict and touched upon the progress of internal reforms in Ukraine.

The White House, in turn, reported that Biden expressed to Zelensky the concerns of the U.S. and Europe regarding Russia's “aggressive actions.” It was noted that Washington and its allies will respond decisively to any Russian incursion into Ukrainian territory.

The U.S. leader also implied that the U.S., its allies, and partners are inclined to the principle of “no decision or discussion on Ukraine without Ukraine.”

“The leaders called on Russia to de-escalate tensions and agreed that diplomacy is the best way to achieve significant progress in resolving the conflict,” concluded the White House Press Office.
