Personnel Purge at the Ministry of Defense Has Begun: 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: 'The personnel purge at the Ministry of Defense has begun. According to information obtained by ArmLur.am, the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Artur Sargsyan, has been relieved of his duties. Notably, Nikol Pashinyan awarded Sargsyan on July 27, 2020, based on the positive results of his report for the first half of 2020.

Our sources indicate that Suren Poghosyan, the Deputy Chief of the Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, has also been dismissed. It should be reminded that according to information from 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, after his appointment, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan has been regularly summoning employees from various departments of the Ministry of Defense to personally familiarize himself with their functions. As a result of these meetings, the leadership within the Ministry has conducted certain analyses, determining that personnel changes need to start with the staff of the departments to eliminate the 'traditions' that have developed within the ministry.

The issue is that the newly appointed minister has been made aware that the employees in the ministry's departments are shifting the responsibility for carrying out work onto one another, and in many cases, work does not progress. To prevent such situations, there will soon be widespread dismissals in some departments of the Ministry of Defense.'
