Major Car Accident and Fire in Yerevan: Collision between Mercedes and Iveco near Renaissance Restaurant Resulting in Injuries and a Fatality

Today, on December 8, a major and tragic car accident followed by a fire occurred in Yerevan. Around 17:00, on Shiraz Street, next to the Renaissance restaurant complex, a collision took place between a Mercedes and an Iveco vehicle.

According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the collision, the Iveco overturned, while a fire broke out in the Mercedes. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two individuals were rescued from the vehicles by emergency responders from the Yerevan Fire and Rescue Department, who arrived promptly with two fire engines.

The firefighters subsequently disconnected power to the vehicles and extinguished the blaze in the Mercedes, which had completely turned to ashes and rubble. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 242, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code. The police and the investigative department are working to determine the identities of the drivers, the deceased, and the injured.
