Tragic Car Accident in Aparan: Police Toyota Collides with Niva, Senior Inspector Killed on Site, 2 Injured
A tragic and major car accident occurred today, December 8, in the Aragatson region. Around 6:00 PM, on the 60 km section of the Margara-Vanadzor-Tashir M3 highway, a collision took place between a VAZ 2121 vehicle driven by 38-year-old Edgar Stepanian from the village of Shenavan and a police Toyota Corolla, with a 53-year-old resident of the village of Mughni, Sirak Minasian, at the wheel.
According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, both vehicles went off the roadway and ended up in a ravine. Sirak Minasian died on the spot, while his passenger, 29-year-old Vahe Khachatryan from the village of Voskepaz, and the driver of the Niva, E. Stepanian, were taken to the 'Aparan' medical center with injuries.
A criminal case has been initiated under the second part of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code. The photojournalist reports that the deceased Sirak Minasian worked in the 1st platoon of the 1st company of the 2nd police battalion of the RA Traffic Police as a senior inspector, holding the rank of police major. He had helped over 30 injured individuals during his service following traffic accidents, transporting them to hospitals in his service vehicle, with doctors often positively noting that if Sirak had not transported the victims in time, their lives might not have been saved.
