Intoxicated Man Goes to Enforcement Office, Swears, and Later Assaults Employee With Relatives

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has uncovered the circumstances surrounding the incident of hooliganism committed by a 50-year-old resident of Ejmiatsin and his son.

According to the evidence collected during the investigation, on July 28, 2021, around 2:30 PM, a 50-year-old man under the influence of alcohol visited the Ejmiatsin division of the Enforcement Service of Aragatsotn and Armavir provinces to obtain information regarding ongoing proceedings against him. The enforcement officers directed him to the quick service room to expedite the information retrieval process.

However, driven by a sense of superiority, he began to verbally abuse the enforcement officers, leading them to escort him out of the division. Two days later, on July 30, around 3:00 PM, the 50-year-old man, accompanied by his son, brother, and son-in-law, returned to the same enforcement division. There, both he and his son displayed an overtly disrespectful attitude towards society, verbally abused, and physically assaulted the head of the division.

Realizing that the division’s staff had called the police, they attempted to flee the scene. Sufficient evidence has been gathered to charge the 50-year-old man and his son under the first sub-section of the third part of Article 258 of the RA Criminal Code. A travel ban has been placed on them as a measure to ensure they do not leave. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor with a request to confirm the indictment and send it to court.
