2.7 Million Dram Transferred to Family of Non-Volunteer Citizen Without Grounds: Ministry of Defense Details

The Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia has obtained factual data through operational-investigative measures that in January 2021, various officials from different departments of the Ministry of Defense, responsible for verifying and collecting data on military personnel and others who had gone missing or were captured during combat operations, displayed negligence in their duties. This led to the inclusion of the data of a civilian, R.A., who was neither a soldier nor a volunteer, in the lists submitted to the Ministry of Defense’s Military Insurance Fund and Fund of Soldiers’ Insurance (ZASP and VHGW).

This negligent behavior resulted in severe consequences, as without sufficient grounds, the family members of R.A. have been transferred a total of 2,700,000 Armenian drams from the Soldiers’ Insurance Fund to date.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of Article 376 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which concerns "Negligence in Service," at the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia as of December 7, 2021.
