Bomb Defused Ahead of Erdogan's Rally in Turkey; Concerns Raised About Distraction Tactics

Turkish law enforcement authorities have discovered and defused an explosive device placed under a police vehicle. The vehicle was en route to a rally in the city of Siirt featuring President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish Ministry of the Interior and the Vice President of the ruling Justice and Development Party, Hamza Dag, informed CNN Turk about the explosive device. According to the politician, the perpetrators aimed to disrupt the Siirt rally. The device was found during a search of the vehicle and was safely deactivated. The police are currently searching for suspects.

The rally took place on December 4 in southeastern Turkey. Experts have suggested today that this incident was a well-established method used to divert the public's attention from the declining economy.
