State of Emergency at Georgian-Armenian Border: Numerous Trucks Unable to Enter Armenia for Days
Numerous drivers have reported being unable to cross the Georgian-Armenian border at the Sadakhlo checkpoint for several days now. In a conversation with SHAMSHYAN.com, a caller stated, “We have been stuck at the Sadakhlo customs for three days. Our Armenian customs officials are not working. There are about 400 vehicles lined up here. We want to enter Armenia from Georgia, but the cars coming towards Armenia are lined up in several rows. Armenia is not accepting vehicles as Georgia won't let us through. They say the issue is related to the X-ray machine, supposedly there is only one X-ray device, which is not functioning properly. Since the morning, only 7-8 vehicles have managed to pass. Both the X-ray issue and our Armenian customs officials' reluctance to work are contributing to the situation. Not only trucks are stuck, but also passenger and transport vehicles are waiting,” said the concerned driver, adding that they encountered staff from the Armenian side of the checkpoint who stated that the shortage of personnel had created this situation.
