Billionaire Elon Musk Becomes Homeless After Selling His Last Mansion

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has fulfilled his promise to rid himself of all earthly real estate. As it was reported on Sunday, December 5, he has sold his last mansion located in Hillsborough, California. The entrepreneur initially asked for $37.5 million but eventually settled for $30 million.

According to Mansion Global, Musk's final residence was an opulent mansion built in 1912, covering nearly 1,500 square meters. Together with the house, the total land area amounts to 19 hectares, featuring gardens, parks, and a pond.

Musk acquired the property in 2017 for $23.4 million. It belonged to one of California's wealthy individuals and was constructed by the French Count Christian de Guigné after he married a Californian woman and moved to America. The estate had been owned by the de Guigné family for over 100 years before it was sold for $100 million in 2013.

In the spring of 2020, Musk promised on Twitter that he would sell all his properties for the sake of freedom. Since then, he has sold four mansions in Los Angeles, totaling $60 million. Now, he has sold his final piece of real estate.

The 50-year-old billionaire is now living in a 37-square-meter compact house that he rents from SpaceX in Texas. In one of his interviews, he admitted that he is so focused on the idea of colonizing Mars that he wants to free himself from all possible means to realize this plan.
